Trauma Behind the Badge
The tough conversations, had weekly by three people who have been through them.
Chris co-founded Trauma Behind the Badge as a weekly webinar and podcast for first responders, the clinicians who treat them and the families who live with them. The subjects are the ones departments tend to avoid: cumulative trauma, substance use, suicide, marriages under strain, and what recovery actually looks like when the job does not stop.
The three hosts are not observers. Each of them is describing something he came through.
The hosts
- Chris Fields Retired major, Oklahoma City Fire Department, thirty-one years. Peer support team member with the Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division.
- Chris Scallon Retired sergeant, Norfolk Police Department, twenty-four years. Masters in psychology, certified in critical incident stress management, and a practicing clinician.
- Raul Rivas Army Reserve veteran and Orlando Police Department officer who neutralized the Pulse nightclub shooter.
